Mazatlán Mazatec is a Mazatecan language spoken in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, notably in the towns of Mazatlán Villa de
Flores, San Jerónimo Tecóatl, San Antonio Eloxochitlán, San Lucas Zoquiapan, Santa Cruz Acatepec, San Pedro Ocopetatillo,
San Lorenzo Cuanecuiltitla, Santa Ana Ateixtlahuaca, and San Francisco Huehuetlán. Egland (1978) found 80% intelligibility
with Tecóatl and 78% with Huautla, the prestige variety of Mazatec. See Mazatecan languages for a detailed description of
