Karang, or Mbum East, is an Mbum language of Cameroon. Ethnologue 17 lists Karang, Sakpu, Ngumi (Ngomi), and Mbere as dialects.
However, Blench (2004) considers them to be separate languages: Ngumi within the Karang branch of Mbum, Sakpu closer to Kuo
(Koh), and Mbere closer to Mbum proper. Ethnnologue lists all four among the thousand speakers in Chad, and only Karang and
Ngumi among the majority in Cameroon. |
