In 1980 it was spoken by twenty elders in Queensland, between Tambo and Augathella, Warrego and Langlo rivers. The recently-published Seventeenth Edition of Ethnologue (2013) listed Bidjara as extinct. Though the language still has an ethnic population, it appears to have shifted to English.
